A complete designer-grade en-suite bathroom created within an existing bedroom in Sutton, SM2. This project combined substantial construction and drainage alterations with precision tiling, bespoke architectural details and carefully integrated lighting to create a sophisticated contemporary en-suite.
🔶 New en-suite created within the bedroom – A completely new bathroom space was formed, including new timber partition walls, insulation, boarding and all associated preparation and finishing works.
🔶 New plumbing & bespoke drainage solution – New hot and cold-water supplies and waste pipework were installed for the shower, WC and basin. Due to the location of the new en-suite, the sanitaryware was connected to a Saniflo macerator system, with new discharge pipework routed through the loft to the drainage connection point on the opposite side of the house.
🔶 Extra-large-format porcelain floor tiles – Impressive 1200 × 1200 mm porcelain tiles were installed across the floor, reducing the number of grout joints and creating a clean, almost seamless appearance.
🔶 Large-format porcelain wall tiling – 1500 × 600 mm porcelain tiles were used extensively throughout the bathroom and shower area, creating a refined contemporary backdrop.
🔶 Designer feature tiling – Smaller-format dark textured tiles were introduced selectively to contrast with the large-format porcelain, including the feature wall behind the vanity and within the bespoke recessed feature area.
🔶 Precision mitred tile detailing – External tiled corners were carefully mitred rather than finished with conventional tile trims, producing crisp, continuous porcelain edges and a much more refined designer finish.
🔶 Epoxy grout finish – Tile joints and mitred external corners were finished with durable epoxy grout, providing excellent resistance to moisture and staining while complementing the precision of the tiling.
🔶 Bespoke illuminated shower niches – Recessed niches were formed within the shower area to provide practical storage, incorporating concealed LED lighting for a clean architectural effect.
🔶 Bespoke illuminated feature recess & storage – A substantial recessed feature was created outside the shower, combining contrasting feature tiles, integrated LED lighting and discreet built-in storage below.
🔶 Concealed shower system – A concealed thermostatic shower valve was installed with separate controls, a handheld shower and a large overhead rainfall shower.
🔶 Contemporary glass shower enclosure – The shower area was completed with a full-height glass enclosure and complementary brushed-metal detailing.
🔶 Designer vanity area – A contemporary fluted dark-wood wall-hung vanity with a generous integrated basin is paired with minimalist brushed-metal tapware.
🔶 Feature illuminated mirror – A large oval LED mirror forms a focal point above the vanity and complements the integrated architectural lighting throughout the room.
🔶 Layered bathroom lighting – Recessed ceiling spotlights, illuminated shower niches, feature-recess lighting and subtle lighting beneath the vanity combine practical task lighting with softer ambient illumination.
🔶 Heating & ventilation – A contemporary stainless-steel heated towel rail and dedicated bathroom extraction complete the installation.
The result is a bespoke designer-grade en-suite where the technical complexity of creating an entirely new bathroom has been carefully concealed behind a highly refined finish. Extra-large-format porcelain, precision mitred corners, epoxy grout detailing, contrasting feature tiles and integrated lighting give the room its distinctive high-end character.
